which is better for performance, 6 cores or 8? ive read that bf3 doesnt care how many cores you have but i needed to reduce the 8 to 6 cores because of temp problems. im getting roughly anywhere from 65-74.8 fps on bf3 now @ stock 3.1ghz. i cannot oc cause of heat issues as of now, but how do i get more fps?

thermaltake clp0554 on its way now, but i didnt get a hyper 212 cause im not sure bout how the back plate install would go.......yes im a noob..lol

BF3 only uses 4 Cores for maximum performance, and since those 4 or all of the cores are slower than Intel, you wont get much as intel quad cores does... 8120 is meant for doing video editing or encoding stuff such as movie, not for games... EVEN AMD's quad core 955BE can game better than 8120...

i disagree, it shows all six cores with activity on them. plus amd's 8120 seems to do good in bf3. im not a intel or amd fanboy and could care less which chip is better. i just wanna know how to get my heat down and fps up !

thanks

Incorrect. BF3 will happily use 6 cores on my 3930K
BF3 is one of the few games capable of running on more then 4 cores properly (that's real cores not hyper threading) I am unsure on how BF3 manages BD modules though.

it manages it good, i have had all 8 cores running and bf3 uses all 8. But increases my heat a lot. so i had to go to 6 cores and lower my voltage to 1.28

btw, how does a BD 8120 perform badly in bf3? if im getting 65-74 fps, isnt that bad ass? for a I5 user, what is your fps ?

Even if it's ultilizing all cores, it's still slower or gaming slower than Intel's quad core plus Intel can OC higher but after 4.4GHz game wont show improvement much...

Hey man I can help here I have the EVO 212 it was easy to install and cools like a beast min runs at 13 degrees idle and 26 degrees under load. Put the cores back on when your CPU cooler arrives. I get roughly 80-90FPS in BF3 on an overclocked 8120 and overclocked 6870.
