Ok so I just bought a Asus CG5270, put in a nVidia 9600 GSO (DVI out only) to play some games (Left 4 Dead 2 demo to be exact). I use this PC for a mixed use of HTPC and normal use primarily, I have it hooked up to my Samsung LNT3253H (LCD TV) which doesn't have a DVI in. So I have a DVI-to-HDMI adapter running the video, and a 3.5mm to R/W analog audio cable. No audio. Called Samsung and they said that some nVidia cards somehow send a false audio signal when using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter. So the TV thinks its getting audio through the HDMI cable when its not, therefore ignoring the "DVI Audio Input" connection. Samsung says its been fixed with a new nVidia driver but I have the latest driver and still no audio. Is there something I am not doing correctly, a setting somewhere I am missing?
First post in here and I don't know what I am talking about so please forgive me if more info is needed to correctly answer this question. Thanks
