Need memory advice for asus m4a89gtd pro/usb3

I purchased an asus m4a89gtd pro/usb3 mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131631&Tpk=asus%20m4a89gtd%20pro%2fusb3 on special a couple of weeks ago... due to budget restrictions i can only build my new machine one or two components at a time... i am ready to buy memory and will roll the dice with a AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto (OEM) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103818...

Now, (assuming i am able to unlock the other two cores and get a decent oc) my question is: will there be any performance gain by going with the PC 12800 at a low CAS latency of 7 or will that just be pissing into the wind... or lower bus speed lower CAS latency vs higher bus speed higher CAS latency... Budget ~ $150.00 for 4GB 2X2GB

My next major purchase will be 6 SATA 6Gb/s hda's set up with raid 10 and windows 7 pro x64... then another 4 gig of memory... not necessarily in that order or all at once... maybe 2 drives with raid 0 then 2 more etc...

This will be my business machine NOT gaming... many apps open at once... Fireworks, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Outlook, several browsers with multipal tabs, Ghost, Audition, etc...

One more question about memory: who is your favorite manufacturer - Crucial, G.SKILL, Mushkin, etc...

Thanks... cr

OK... one more question... what about buying a 4 gig stick one at a time? The mobo supports 16GB...

thanks mosox - i am going to take your advice on the 955 instead of the 950 OEM and will do the OC when i can afford decent cooling... what about the 4GB stick question e.g. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231313
  3. While whatever 1 and 2G sticks work in all the mobos, 4G sticks are tricky, many mobos don't have support for this or that brand, etc. Check out the Asus site for your mobo - supported memory list.
