I’ve got an Intel DP45SG motherboard and (sometimes) have a “blue screen” problem in Windows 7 after it boots and desktop appears (not all the times, of course). Lately updated it with the last BIOS file; but nothing changed.

Now I’d like to know what could be the cause and that, is there any solution to solve it out?

related devices: (in case of probably being the main causer!)

VGA: EVGA GTX 285

CPU: Core2Due 8400

RAM: Corsair 2x2GB

PSU: 700w real

thanks a lot

There could be a number of things causing the blue screens (BSOD). RAM, HDD, drivers, or services. You should run some hardware diagnostics to rule out any problems there, and maybe download and install any updated drivers directly from the manufacturer.

Before any of that, you should check the Event Viewer first (built into Windows). Hit your Windows key and type event viewer and it press enter. Then check under "Windows Logs > System" for any red exclamations, right-click them and view their properties. It should give you enough info to find out what is causing the BSOD. Most every BSOD will be logged here, so use that to your advantage.

If the BSOD happens too fast for you to be able to do anything, try booting into safe mode.

The P45 chipset will remain compatible for win8 also so no worries on that front.. Your listed hardware also has no issues on compatibility although the occasional BSOD suggests some hardware conflict.. It might as well be caused by some update which has failed to finish completely.. Check with the memory diagnosis first using some software such as memory86+
