The HD 5770 will suit your needs most based on what you've given.

If you plan on getting a higher resolution monitor in the next year or two, then I'd suggest getting an even more powerful card like the HD 5850.

ATi really need something DX11 based in the middle there.

I agree that the 5770 is your best fit.

@ TheViper,

So a 5850 is a 5870 with some sp's disabled and you want something in the middle ??? Ok how about the cards that dont quite make 5850 standard. Turn some more off and there we have it. :)

The GTX 260 is more powerful than the HD 5770 but if you are gaming at 1440 x 900 resolution, the HD 5770 would suffice and you'd get DX 11.

If you plan to get a bigger monitor, you'd want something better than either of those 2 which is why I suggested the HD 5850.

lol, not between the HD 5870 and HD 5850 but between the HD 5850 and HD 5770. And HD 5830 would be perfect.

That's basically it. Same hardware just marginalized a little.

The HD 5770 (and HD 5750) use a 128 bit data path which really kills the bandwidth of those cards. To really fill in that $200-$240 range a 128 bit path simply won't do even with higher clocks. Either drop some more SPU's or drop some clocks on the HD 5850 (and it's 256 but data path) to allow it to really shine at that price point.

the 5850 is not available here or any of the other ati series
only the older ones r available
only nvidia msi are available

also
even thouh hd 5850 is better of all its 256bit so wont it be diferent than the 448 bit of the 260

nywayz if i buy anyone of them shud i consider changing my psu its 500watts(MTech)

wud it be enough for 260

The bit depth can not be compared by itself. It must be combined with the RAM speed as well.

HD 5850: 256 bit x 4,000 Mhz / 8 = 128 GB/s
GTX 260: 448 bit x 1,998 Mhz / 8 = 111.8 GB/s

Yes, that's enough power for an HD 4850.
