Hello,
I am looking for an am3 motherboard that supports ddr3 ecc/r rdimms, not ecc/non-ecc unbuffered, and not ecc/fb, and a suitably speedy cpu.

So far, I have seen that the opteron
6 way works fine, and the server board
will fit in a Biig tower case.

However, AMD just released the Phenom II X6 CPU, so I am waiting to see if
there are going to be any ecc/r motherboards for it.

Has anyone seen any information about ecc/r and the X6?

Yes, there are plenty of high end server boards. The dual or quad core opteron is
far out, with 24 cores and 256GB of ram. I am seeing new motherboard announcements every day for the x6 .. it seems likely that it will also be used in server boards soon.

Anyway, I am going to wait a bit before going with the opteron.
The really funny thing is that the ecc/r dimms are significantly cheaper than the non ecc/r
dimms, so there is no monetary motivation for not using them.
E.g. $615 for 16GB of ddr3 1066 ecc/r versus $762 for 16GB of non-ecc ddr3 1066 dimms.

So if the ecc/r motherboard costs less than $147 more, it is cheaper to use the ecc/r memory.
