For some reason when launch games in DirectX 10 before I even access the menus it shuts down my pc. This has happened in Bioshock, Stalker, Crysis, and others. No one on the web has heard of this the way it happens to me help if you can. DirectX 9 play pretty good MY Specs Striker Extreme 680i E6600 Duo Core 4Gb DDR2 800 ati 5870 this also happened on 8800gtx Vista 64 bit 700 Watt Powersupply

So this is just happening on the same game, for example Crysis DX9 is fine, but Crysis DX10 crashes? Did you load the drivers from the CD or did your download the latest from the ATI website? If you do not have the latest Drivers from the site, you will want to start there. The 5870 is a new card and you will want the most recent drivers. When I got my card I skipped the CD and went right to the web. I have no issues under Vista 64 with my 5870.

I initially installed the drivers from the disk first then went to the website to get the latest drivers. You may also want to take into account this happened on my 8800 gtx card. I loaded those drivers directly from the internet. I was able to fix a game that was shutting down. I went into mid mapping and also multi monitors which was weird but it worked.

That is interesting if it happened on your 8800. Are the games fully patched? Do you have all the vista update?

yep to both. I do admit it is weird

Are there any BIOS updates for your motherboard? I'm sure there have been a few releases to the 680i BIOS for your motherboard since you bought it. Just a thought. It might be a know issue or possibly unknown that a BIOS update may fix.

It is indeed weird.
