HDD causing black screens?

I recently purchased a new HDD and since installing it my pc has begun to randomly go blank. The screen will go black and the system will become unresponsive, so I have to turn it off and on again. It happens randomly, but when left off for a good while it will take much longer (2 hours). I have read a lot about systems getting a black screen and found that there are many possible causes to this problem although I have not encountered anyone saying it was a HDD issue. Is this a possibility? I doubt it's anything else since it worked fine before the new HDD.

Is the new drive your new system drive or a secondary. If it's a secondary you can try to unplug it and see if that clears up the issue. You can try a different power connection also.

You have not given us enough information to tell you anything.

Your purchased a new hdd..........................and so you did what with it? Backup drive? OS drive? Did you do a fresh Windows install?
