So... i need a new cpu AND am planning to buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103846] my motherboard is a Foxconn (Bengal) RS780 Motherboard, and on the compability site it say
* Socket AM2+
* Athlon 64
* Athlon™ 64 X2
* Phenom® (95 W)
* Sempron™

are all supported, but the cpu i want is a phenom ii, is that also supported or if i want to have the phenom ii do i need to get a new motherboard?

1- Contact with Gateway to know the complete CPU support list. The AM3 processor fit in AM2+ mobos, but not all AM3 processor can run in an AM2+ mobo.
2- Maybe is better for u buy a new mobo, but if u do that u also need new RAM.
