Hi guys,

I have a question. I'm interested in purchasing this card for my tower (link here). I have a couple of questions about this HIS card.

Which way is the air being moved in this card? Is the fan sucking in from the backpanel grill, or is it pushing air out that way? I only ask this because in my tower, my PSU is at the bottom and the fan is blowing upwards towards the mobo and stuff. Hence, I'm trying to avoid any cards that are blowing downwards in order to avoid a problem with disrupted airflow. I'm not sure but is the air from the PSU warm enough to mess with the GPU assuming if this card is actually pushing air out through the rear grill?

Also, I'm currently using an onboard Radeon 3300. If I install this card, should I uninstall my present catalyst center and then shut down the onboard GPU in the bios before putting the new card in? Or can I just plug it into the PC and power it up and the ATI Catalyst Center will be able to auto detect changes and react accordingly?

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the help!

Cheers.

That blows the air across the inside of the card and out the back of the case. So it is pulling air into it.

You will also want to uninstall the current drivers and CCC and update to the latest. And, as you mentioned, shut off the onboard GPU from the BIOS.

The Viper,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I would like to know if this card is like "2x or 3x" better than the onboard GPU? I know you can't really look at video cards that way, but a good estimation on how much stronger this card is compared to the onboard GPU would be nice though. That way I could get a rough cost to benefit ratio before forking down that near-benjamin price tag.

Cheers.

You can almost add a 0 to your numbers and be close.

The HD 4670 is more graphically capable than the PS3.
