Forum Systems : Homebuilt [Solved] What could this be?

I know it could be a number of things but does anyone have a suggestion? It started about 7 days ago that my computer would just restart by itself. It did this several times in a short period. Now it has only done it a couple of times in the last several days. What does it sound like?

It would help if you listed your specs.

Did you get a BSOD or did it just restart?

No BSOD. It will just restart.

First, I would test the RAM with memtest, and run chkdsk /r on the hard drives.

If there is a BSOD and you're missing it, this will catch it.
start-->control panel-->system-->advanced tab-->startup and recovery settings-->uncheck the box to auto restart under system failure.
