Hello, for an ASUS P6X58D, does the RAM placement have to be symmetric? I know that some motherboards that have 4 slots, and it has to be symmetric (slot 1 + slot 2 = slot 3 + slot 4).

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Since ur mobo support tri-channel, the configuration is this:

slot 1 + slot 3 + slot 5 = slot 2 + slot 4 + slot 6

I assume that the new mobo and CPU is for a new rig, so, u have two options.

1- U can install the same OS in both rigs without problems with the same key product.
2- Buy another key, that can help u to avoid some problems of "ur copy of windows isn't legal" or something like that.
