Asus A8N-E motherboard compatible with 640GB drive?

hey guys, does anyone know if my A8N-E Motherboard will recognise and be compatible with a Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 64mb cache drive?

i've been googling for hours and can't find anything.

It should. I wouldn't think why not... it has SATA II ports after all.

I have an A8N32-SLI Deluxe which isn't that much different from you and this same drive and it is working. It uses the same chipset and socket as well. I am having problems getting it to work at SATA 2 speeds though. I made a post on the WD forums in hoping that issue gets resolved. Nevermind. Apparently it was a jumper problem. You put the jumper on pins 5 and 6 to limit it to 3g speeds. The problem was that the drive didn't include a jumper so I had to scrounge one up out of my humongous box of random parts. Hope this helps you.

i'm not really sure what you mean by '1.5g?' is that SATA terminology?
