Radeon 5770 idle temp and clock

I recently got a sapphire radeon 5770. It's idling at 60 degrees, and for what i have read that's high. I'd like to know if that's normal and what's the card's maximum temp. It says that it's at 400Mhz and the fan speed is at 40% with no activity.
Thank you all

If it did that out of the box or started after a few days of games, I believe it'd be best to go exchange it. I'd pin it on a faulty card. Did you overclock it any?

Mine idles at 38-40 degrees celsius, and I OC'd it to 900/1300 and the highest it reaches is 72, so you're right in worrying about your card. I've read that some heat can get stuck in the plastic? But I've yet to experience that.

To be honest I'm not a great specialist, but I think theres a very rare chance that it could be your PCI-e connector or something thats causing too much power to go to it or something exotic like that, but I'd only investigate that after exchanging the card.

Same here, mine idles at lower temps and 35% fan.
Do you have anything running that might load the card? I think Aero may cause this in Vista/Win 7 but I have neither installed (XP luddite;) ), so I cannot check by disabling the feature.

Now I know why it's at 400mhz. When i connect the tv and use it together with the monitor the speed goes up. When i disconnect the tv sometimes the speed doesn't go back to the normal 157mhz. So i guess that the power usage and temps go up when i do this. Thanks for the reply!!
