Obviously 2.2 ghz is better than 1.3 but how much of a difference does it really make? Please give examples.

Depends on your applications, cores, cpu architecture...etc, there are to many variables to zero in on a specific clock change however if you take two identically created CPU's with different clock rates, depending on the software utilizing it, the difference can be miniscure to significant.
