i had a cousin come to me for help with a budget yet quality build. he had 650 bucks to play with. i have a spare 750 gig barracuda and a 640 meg 8800 gts that he is going to use. hes saving up for a 5850 or 5870, and then another one. this was the best i could do, i think. any comments or concerns?

I would switch to a GX board
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD

and RAM with some lower latencies
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop

and this case
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower

What Barracuda HDD is that?

i dunno about the gx board, hes planning on using crossfire with a 5870 or 5850. would like to keep the 16x 16x lanes.

the lower latency ram sounds like a good idea.

trying to keep costs down on the case, also, the two hundred is very functional. though a bit of a pain to work with.

its a barracuda 10

You should get a new HDD. As for the GX board, you won't notice the difference.
