Is it possible Intel would pay TSMC to lower yields on AMD's 5xxx series graphics cards, just to keep money out of AMD's pockets. This idea popped into my head, I'm just curious what you all think.

Agree with SS's serious response, and really intel just threw AMD a $1.25B lifeline, if anything they would do this to $crew with nVidia, and even then like SS said, you couldn't pay TSMC enough money to tick of their major customers (which if word leaked would also make all their smaller customers questions TSMC whenever they placed an order) it's not like TSMC is the only game in town, Samsung, Fujitsu, IBM and a few others (Global bought TSMC's biggest fabless competitor Chartered Semi) and something like this would open the door for others like Toshiba, Frescale, etc to add capacity and take over TSMC's customers, maybe not immediately, but long term.

TSMC built a reputation for quality (which is currently problematic with 45/40nm but that happened even to intel and AMD) and the also grew by not sharing the opposition's designs (important when you have competing orders), what the OP is suggesting would essentially kill TSMC because no one would trust them.
