Hello,
I have a 120 ssd and a 2 tb 6gb sec hard drive to use w/ my asus new z68 mb. Should I configure the ssd for smart response and install the os on the hard drive or should i just install the os on the ssd? I am not sure which would be fastest. I could install any apps on the hard drive. I will be having a dual boot system with windows 7, xp and possibly Linux also. Windows 7 will be my default.

The Sart Response only works on ssd's up to 64gb , so if you have a 120gb ssd then the thing to do is make two partitions , one 20gb and the other with the rest and install your OS (Win 7) on the larger partition. Then you would use your hdd for everything else.

^ for what it's worth, don't think it will work from a partition.

Even if by change it did it would not be worth it performance wise.
The way the cache would work it would endup duplicating what the what the OS + program drive does - the end result would be almost no performance boost to data on the HDD.

Bottom line, put what YOU know you need into that 20 gig space. Your brain is a better judge than the "artificial Inteligance" built into the cache.
