Upgrading on a budget

TL;DR: Temp upgrade with ~$200, cpu/ram/mobo/case -- these ok, or gtfo?




Hello, well I'm in the market to build a low end gaming computer on a pretty tight budget; about $200.


The rig I've been running on is, well horrible.

I'm only really in need of a mobo, cpu, and ram for right now, but also spending some on a new case.

This will be running on a Windows XP Home, 32 bit OS.

I'm not looking for something that'll run crysis in max res at max settings. Mostly into left 4 dead's, battlefields, and most of the other Valve made games.

I'm wondering if this set up will work productively together, will provide a decent framerate on at least mid settings in these types of games, and if I have made any real mistakes here.


I have a GPU already , Galaxy 9500 GT 512mb

I'm wanting this for a temporary fix to a terrible computer that will appease and please me until I can get some money back in this flat wallet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if I've left out anything vital please let me know

Okay, with 9500 GT, u can play most game with medium setting(forget crysis).
But if u have money later, u better upgrade that GPU, it's still fairly a weak gpu...

Here is an ECS 770 AM3 / 250 Regor combo for around $100.

You can do better than a GeForce 6150SE/430 AM3 with 1000MHz HT.

And the 9500 GT will probably hold you back as much as anything, but you should have playable rates at medium settings and lower rez in most games.

Yeah, I was looking to upgrade that in the near future as well. Figured for right now it would at least allow me to get decent rates and play.
