Would like to overclock my AMD 965 b.e

AMD 965 be 3.4ghz cpu

ga990fxa-ud3 Mobo

mushkin blackline 8gb (2x4) Ram

EVGA gtx 580

NZXT hale90 850w 80 plus gold psu

Corsair force series 3 ssd

2tb western digital caviar black hd

Corsair h80 water cooler

Corsair Graphite Series 600T Special Edition white case

I am just wondering how difficult the process is to overclock my cpu, i was looking for around 3.8. Will the cooling be enough? will the parts handle it? Do I need to download a program to do it or is it better to do it through bios? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

More about would overclock
  1. Change it in the bios.

Since it is a BE cpu, you just need to increase the multiplier, but do not just right to 3.8(The 955 BE I had did 3.7 on stock voltage with a coolermaster 212+). You will need to make smaller jumps and test with Prime95. Every cpu is a bit different and not all overclock as well.

You may need to add extra voltage(vcore) at some point(add as little as you can then test).

HWmon if you want to keep an eye on the temps.
  2. Yup just bump up the multy I have my 1090T running 3.6 up from 3.2 on the stock fan.. Bout to install the same h80 you have. On whater you should be able to hit 4.2 or so but will have to up volts for sure.
