Nvidia’s Chief Exec Praises Apple, Accuses PC Vendors of Lack of Innovation.

In a rather strange move, Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia Corp., said that he and his family used only Apple’s Macintosh computers. It remains to be seen how large brands like Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Dell and Lenovo will react to Mr. Huang’s accusations of the lack of innovation technologies.

“Apple wants to differentiate. So inside your MacBook is an Nvidia chipset. Because Apple wants to build fundamentally different computers than just the Intel platform. they want to add value,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia, in an interview with Shuffle Gazine web-site.

In fact, every PC vendor wants to differentiate: Dell introduces a notebook that is 9.99cm slim, Lenovo implements roll-cage made of carbon fiber or titanium to protect its premium T- an X-series business machines as well as uses advanced keyboards that are comfortable to use, Sony throws in Blu-ray disc player and so on. Meanwhile, Apple has neither of those features. However, only Apple uses exclusively Nvidia’s chipsets. Perhaps, this is why Mr. Huang praises Apple?

“Apple uses the best technology for their [computers]. Apple says to their customers: if you buy a computer from us you can be sure we have selected the best technology inside for you. That is their promise to consumers. Their promise to consumers isn’t ‘we’ve selected the best technology for you’ with the exception of what Intel allows us to use. That’s not their promise. And that’s why Apple uses the best technology where they want whenever they want. And that’s why I’m all Apple! […]It’s just Mac, Mac, Mac! Because I know it has got the best stuff inside,” said the head of Nvidia.

Even though the comments from Mr. Huang do seem a little weird, they demonstrate two important trends: premium consumers buy Apple, experienced users have no troubles with migrating from Windows to Mac OS X.

It remains to be seen how large PC makers will react on the fact that Mr. Huang praises Apple and claims that all other PCs lack of innovation since they use Intel Corp’s chipsets and/or ATI Radeon graphics processing units.
