I was using an 8800 GT. I install the new card and all I get is a black screen. The card itself sounds like it's about to take flight (loud). I hear the windows theme start up but still nothing. Do I intall the ATI drivers first before I take out the 8800?

Uninstall all the nVidia drivers and try booting it up with the 4890 again.

Hmmm, what is the brand of the card? Also, did you plug all the necessary cables (6pin and 8pin pcie connectors)?

I presume that you did, but I am asking anyways...

Could be the card itself, probably DOA. I suggest you to buy HIS or XFX products.
