New HDD install problem, can't see

Hi all,

I just want to upgrade to bigger HDD on my X61 (100G --> 320G), I had like new 320 drive with 2 partitions on it, after installing it and running XP cd system can't find it.

I then went into W7 Computer Management on another PC and I think did "Delete Volume" 2 of them, no help, but now I can't see this hdd anywhere. I have it plugged it in into USB enclosure, so I can connect it to PC.

Appreciate you help. How to prepare HDD in this case?
THe only place I can see in Device Manager/Disk DRive/ Generic External USB Drive

Hi all,
i could not understand exactly what you did but i would start from the begining - insert you o.s. cd and delete all partitions...format all and restart!!!

Yes, that' what I tried, intalled hdd, loaded XP CD, had option to boot from CD, CD loaded some drives and then got message ,computer can not find HDD, in Bios I see this drive like not installed
