Installing geforce 8600gt on an asus p7h55-m pro mobo h

Im having trouble installing my video card on the motherboard.
Ive installed the crad and when I boot my PC nothing happens. basically a black screen.no boot etc.
Ive unistalled the mobo video drivers etc.
is there a setting in the biosI have ot switch. I have mroe than enough power to power the card. the card does work. Im thinking its a settings issue in the bios and I cant figure it out.

its ageforce 8600gt, on an asus p7h55-m pro, 4 gbs of ram. bios has been updated.

^^nothing works, and the graphics card is good.
can someone answer if its a setting that Im overlooking in the bios.
