I will be running an i5-2500k and ASUS P8Z68-V/Gen3 Motherboard, OCing to 4.5 GHz at 1.3v. What is the best air cooler for the task? I want the fan to be low noise and high airflow, preferably a balance between the two. Thanks!
The Noctua NH-D14 is among the biggest and most expensive of air coolers. While it offers some of the best temperatures, it's value in performance per dollar is rather poor. I'm currently using a Hyper 212 EVO for a Core i5 2500K @ 4.6GHz. My temps with IntelBurnTest max out at around 64C at room temp of 27-28C.
Since you will be overclocking to 4.5ghz it is to your advantage to keep it as cool as possible for the longevity of the CPU so I concur with methix0r's suggestion of the Noctua NH-D14.
ypur mobo is compatible with the NH-14 so jsut check the dimenions on it and the dimenions on your case ot make shure it fits if it wont u can always just get this.
same price around the same performance and noise level might be behind Nh -d14 bye 1 or 2 degress but it isnt as big length wise if that is your problem those are the best to options for your setup
You don't need an expensive air cooler for an i5.
A quality unit under $50 will do the job easily at 4.5GHz.
dont lsiten to this idiot 4.5ghz are u jokeing u shoudl buy the best ones availble for that speed and i listed them if u dont its really realy stupid of u but its your decsison dont make a bad one...
