I have an SLI setup that has gone to crap the past few weeks. I used to be able to get 70 fps avg in cod4. If I take out one card and leave the top card in, my computer boots like 640x800 and some crappy low bit color. Then I'll try and start EVGA Precision and it'll say something like Device not supported. But when I put in both cards and SLI them it acts fine except for a big performance loss. I'm thinking that it is just linking to the bottom card through SLI and allowing it to act like the top card. Can anyone tell from these symptoms that's what it is? I have the 191.07 Drivers

Go to device manager, find your graphics card, then uninstall the device. You should use whichever version worked before, or the newest ones will probably work too.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? When you removed your bottom card and booted, your OS took note of the change and probably changed some of your driver files around, so reinstalling them might fix your problem. If this doesn't fix the problem, please list your full system specs.

How do I go about completely removing the drivers? and what drivers should I do? The same one or a different?

Yesss thank you so much. I have got a single card to work in the top slot now. Now to test my performance in a game.

Also, just a quick question. I'm thinking of upgrading cards soon. Would a 5870 do best right now and just get a 2nd in the future?

yes 5870 now and 5870 down the road is a good futureproofing idea
