Hello,

I intend on building a new computer in December. I want to use a 750 i5. My first question is when should i buy it? I have a microcenter nearby where I can get it for 150$ But 1 I dont know how long that will last and 2 do you think it will drop in price to somewhere comparable from say now until mid december? I'm probably going to use a budget board 120$ or less and ddr3 1600 ram. I know newegg will have combos on the mobo/cpu and cpu/ram but I don't think that they will save me as much as buying the i5 at the microcenter will. And I can always get a mobo/ram combo too. I dont need build advice right now, just wondering if Im right about buying the i5 now

thank you

wait for black friday / cyber monday. i don't think computer parts are on sale on black friday, but definitely on cyber monday. good luck.

The cheapest you will find anything for an i5 or pretty much any 1156 component will be on Black Friday. I suggest browsing your local PC stores, both family and chain, and look for deals. Newegg does some greater deals than usual on Black Friday also.

The 1156 platform will not go down in price. It is there to compete with AMD on that level and where it is now is probably as cheap as its going to get since its doing a very good job as is.
