Ok, I am going to be doing a clean install on my desktop in the near future and am looking into the idea of getting an SSD for a boot drive. Now, I haven't really been keeping up with SSDs over the past few months since I haven't really been considering this idea much, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions?
Size: 60-80gb (or even more, if it is miraculously within my price range)
Price: ~80 or less
My Mobo: MSI X58 Pro-E LGA 1366 (doesn't have SATA III... only SATA II, 3gb/s. Also, how good are SATA III expansion cards, and would they be a practical solution if I wanted to go with a SATA III SSD?)
So... basically, what would give me the best bang-for-my-buck in the way of speed, size, and reliability while still remaining in my price range?
There are no SATA 2 3Gb/s 80GB ssd's in your price range.
The inexpensive SATA 3 6Gb/s ssd expansion cards are not very good. The low budget models use old controllers and they are slow. High end, high tech cards are expensive. The good cards start at around $1,500.00.
