Hello, How can I save pictures to file in windows xp. I had a great collection before I did a complete restore. Then I lost the lot.

You might be lucky and recover them if the restoration only simmed lightly over the disk in a quick format. Go to http://www.piriform.com and download Recuva - it is free and may be able to find the files. Look for flies of type .jpg.
