The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and the Asus P5Q deluxe are very good. Other than being the best, what other criteria do you have?

For overclocking that chip you will want a P45 chipset I use a ASUS P5Q SE2 Plus for my core 2 quad and it is great nice and stable and overclocks easily. Gigabyte boards tend to have a little more overclocking options in the bios but I find ASUS to be a little more stable.

My experience is a bit different. My GA-EP45-UD3P is slightly more stable than my P5Q Deluxe.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

1- Do u want OC?
2- What other components do u have? Crossfire or SLI?
3- What budget?

Could be your RAM ASUS gets a little picky when it comes to RAM sometimes. Also the ASUS has a few settings different then the Gigabyte I guess its all in your components and configuration.

They're both stable now, but the Asus is a bit more picky with RAM when using 4 modules.
