I'm don't know the exact nomenclature or correct tech terms, but here goes.

On my mobo the SATA is labeled from 0-5: 0 is attached to my HDD boot drive, 1 is CD/DVD drive, 2 is DVD-RW Drive, 3 is HDD secondary drive, 4 and 5 is empty.

Anyways, can I swap the cabling around, I assume 0 is always the boot drive maybe? What about the other ones? For example, can I make SATA1 for my secondary drive?

Thanks! :pt1cable:

you can make any sata device do anything. 0 is not always the boot drive either. If a boot drive is already attached and installed you shouldn't change the plug, sometimes that has caused problems for me. you can plug any device in anywhere you want, just be aware that sometimes moving the boot drive's plug will mess something up.

Yes, 0 is generally for boot drive.....also check to see which ones are SATA III (lower numbers) and the which ones are SATA II (higher numbers)....I suggest SSD and HD on 0 and 1 ..... while HD mechanical transfers (off HD platters) won't benefit from SATA II, the transfers from cache certainly do.
