Well the 2600k or 2500k every knows are just about the best overclocking processors ever made, but even at stock speeds they still trounce anything by AMD. So the overclocked option on the list is kind of redundant for the 2600k.

Read the Toms articles on each.
For gaming there the FX CPUs are doing better with various updates, but game performance does not improve much above the FX4100.
At the moment the I5 2400 outperforms AMD for gaming and most other applications.

OTOH many games are GPU driven so research frame rates with FX 8150 if you want to support AMD.
For many games it will not matter and OC the FX series makes many people happy.

In both strictly perfocategoriesagories, performance frame rates and performance per dollar the I7 chips are just "better".
The I7 2500K is the gaming chip.
Ivy Bridge may or may not change recommendations, you might want to wait for reviews.

Redundant or not. I put it out there for a better answer. Remember
I was having fun with the poll. But yes, LOL I realize now that I wont be
getting an AMD on the next shopping spree.
