Moving SSD from vista machine to windows 7, how to prepare?

The SSD is currently on a vista computer as the boot drive. Since it's vista, no trim. I'm going to use it on a new build windows 7 machine as the boot drive, how should I prepare the drive for a new computer? Just format it in windows? Any special format procedure for an SSD?

Should I install everything on the HDD and then clone it onto the SSD or install the SSD from the initial startup?
