APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: By the end of November

BUDGET RANGE: approx $800. Although I have the extra money to spend if the cost is justified with the performance gain.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS (Windows 7), hdd, Case (Coolermaster HAF 922)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: ncix.com, canadacomputers.com COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Canada

PARTS PREFERENCES: Looking to go with an Intel Core i5 750 for my CPU, prefer ATI video cards.

OVERCLOCKING: Yes

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe, whatever is best for price:performance

MONITOR RESOLUTION: I currently used a dual monitor setup with a 23" LCD, and a shitty 17" that I'm planning to replace at a later time depending how boxing day deals look.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Guess I'll need some cooling too, but dont want it to be too loud, and no led's.

I know your in canada, but here's a build I've done for another person a few days ago..

Take a look at it, use it as a reference..I know you have case..hdd..monitor..

So take a look at the mobo..ram..power supply..

I only used newegg, but you can use other sites if you can find the same parts for cheaper.
Or if you can find better combos at newegg

Here's an i5 750 build with new monitor, without O.S

>Power Supply

Total: $1,288.88 Before Rebate

This build gives you the ability to crossfire/sli in the future if new games are more demanding. You could add in another graphics card, the power supply is decent and could handle 2 graphics card.

Thanks overshocks, looks like a solid build for me. Would this give me room to go crossfire or sli in the future if I wanted to?

oops, ignore my previous post. Didn't see that you addressed future sli/crossfire

mrgeo:seems like a great build. the cost of the system will actually be lower for you since you mention you don't need the HDD

I have a question about the RAM.
Is it worth it for me to pay $30 more for http://ncix.com/products/?sku=45327 ?
Or $50 more for http://ncix.com/products/?sku=42749 ?

Wondering if the extra price is worth the performance boost of the ram that you suggested?

both of them are rip offs..
for example..1600mhz ram with 9-9-9 timings vs 1333mhz with 7-7-7 timings..they will perform VERY VERY similar...the 1333mhz with 7-7-7 beats it at times too...

so definitely not worth it. just find the GSKILL ram with 1333mhz 7-7-7 on ncix, and buy that

if you don't believe me here's an article:

Pulled the trigger and bought this build. CPU heatsink/cooler was out of stock, so going to either have to wait or look for a new one. Also switched out the vid card for a XFX Radeon HD 4870 which was on sale for half the price of the Sapphire you suggested. Figure I can get a 2nd one for crossfire later on if I need more juice.
