Well, point is, the later Fermi does get here, and people say, wait wait, maybe they should just wait for the new ATI solution too?

Not to mention the fact that ATI is known for value-for-money.

That wiki is hilarious, there is no real info whatsoever about the HD6000 series. DirectX11.1? What the hell is that?

Reply to turboflame

Sigh.. I hate how morons edit a wiki entry with BS over and over...

I use wiki all the time, so many people dedicate time to making sure the godo articles stay as such.. then we have people that make *** up for the gpu charts..

You'd think I would have heard about teh 5890 with the extra bus.. or the exact shader core config of teh 6000 series... I find it funny that the only thing we actualyl know is the crazy greek code names, yet those are the only things misssing on the chart... and Q2??? my ass.

Remember, google is your friend, not wiki

do you think they can put it before end of q4 2009 or early q1 2010? if they dont they will face the same problem the r500 had encounter in the past and they will have no time to restore profit from their 40nm that they just got. and 28nm fab had came out around the time just after evergreen release while nvidia still struggle with 40nm!? :pfff:

i seriously doubt that nvidia leadership should have all to be resigned as they done such terrible job recently......and amd's 28nm...my ass too

Fermi wil proably be out some time in Q1.

I'm not sure if the next gen from ati will use 28nm though.. I have not heard whether they plan to go with the bulk on the GPU or the SOI 32nm. Mind you this won't be out till at least q3 2010..

First off, lets look at history.
New iterations, not simple shrinks/core speed bumps etc, come every 16-20 ,months apart.
Being that the 40nm process has somewhat held back progress, I still wouldnt look for the 6xxx series earlier than Christmas next year, on the newer process as well, be it 32 or 28nm.
Looking at GFs roadsmap and TSMCs as well, we could see production ramping by the end of next year, in those proccesses.
Most likely, ATI will have a shrink/bump or other product in between, nVidia may have a x2 product out before then, and possibly may skip a shrink/new revision, being as Fermi/G300 is coming so late .
As for G300? Who knows? Theres a story coming out of Germany, Fermi not due til May, now whether this is a cut down version or whatever, it still doesnt bode well for nVidia, as ATI releases its mids and low end in January or thereabouts, as weve seen them listed in the December drivers

Hmm I wonder if this is the 'surprise' AMD said was coming in January. I sure hope not, not much of a surprise tbh and I was hoping for Thuban.

Also isn't Nvidia supposed to be demo'ing fermi soon?

Well, either dates are a ploy here, or the cut down version comes later, or nVidia will have a paper launch coming, or all the above.

but if they dont do revision they will lost even more money and probably face financial crisis due to no gross earning profit to balance the cost. also their roadmap has become a mess as g300's delay cause of next gen also delay (ex: r500/r600/r670/r700) it is chain reaction as a little mistake could cause a company's downfall and amd learnt in hard way. plus the entire fermi project is cost way more than r700 and evergreen combine. skip the revision is not a good idea for nvidia. all they have to do is psuh as hard as possible and release it before chrismas to reduce and minimumize the impact.

PS: sorry my bad it's net earning, not gross earning...i guess i need to start economic class again.....

Not to worry, nVidia will be fine.
Also, this
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost [...] count=1206
most likely has serious bearing as to when Fermi will be launched, and G300 will most likely be uneffected, and its release was stated 1st qtr next year, with a paper launch most likely, but, getting their mids and lowends out in time could be a problem for nVidia
