APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: November 15 BUDGET RANGE: $400 - $600

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Watching Movies, Gaming, Surfing the Internet, Web Development

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, 23

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.ca, ncix.com, tigerdirect.ca COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Canada

PARTS PREFERENCES: I have a preference for AMD Processors and Gigabyte Mobos, but am very flexiable when considering other options.

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe Crossfire

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I recently decided that I need to get a new computer and wanted to try building one for myself. I am looking at putting together a mid-range computer that can handle a decent level of gaming and applications since I work as a Web Developer. Ive been researching CPU's and think that the AMD II X2 550 BE may be best suited for my needs. Tomshardware.com has been very helpful in bringing me up to speed with the most recent trends in technology these days, so I figured I would open the floor to you guys.

Thanks,

Mark

Honestly, I don't see you getting everything you're interested in, while staying in that price range. With a monitor excluded, you'd have a peppy machine for that price. But throw in a monitor, and you're gonna have a hard time.

I'll see what I can do in a moment.

Thanks, I should have mentioned that I have a 23 inch lcd that came with the place that I just moved into. Oddly enough the landlord gave it to me since he had no use for it.

Thanks for the suggestions, btw.

Hmm, in that case, I'd suggest you stick to the 600$ price range, and nab a 5750.

It will offer alot better performance than the 4650, and supports DX11.

If you're working with script, the tri-core will be alot more useful if you ever need use of a compiler. And despite that, 3 is always better than 2. :P

I think that should cover everything you need. Glad to help bro.

I agree with the above recommendations with the exception of CPU
The phenom tri core has too low of clock speed.

Thanks for the suggestions once again. I am just working on putting together a final list and comparing prices at a couple of computer parts warehouses here in Calgary.
