I seriously doubt the CPU is the problem. What graphic settings are you using on the 560? As I understand it, Batman AC is a video hog in DX11 and can give really low FPS and doesn't allow you to set the graphics level ingame. NFS, I don't know. A 560 isn't exactly a very high end video card and both of those games are fairly recent.
I don't know how serious your lag is but I would think you should be able to play either game reasonably well in 1280x1024 res.

dude i have no problems running 40+FPS in crysis 2 or BF2BC with my 2120 undervolted. granted i ain't got ultra settings but 1900x1080.
my 550ti is running 99% and my CPU doesn't go over 50%

and my PSU is a pos cooler master like yours (extremepowerplus700w)

i suspect its a virus. or your CPU is not properly seated. check if the cooler of your CPU is pushed in. i used to ran a single channel memory and i did not experience any lag.

also try turning off PhysX and run Arkham City on DX9/10 mode.

^this.

with only 4 gigs of ram theres a good chance your ram is doing a lot of swapping of information. with only one channel to do so, it would cause serious lag problems. hell, dual channel causes lag problems if u fill the ram up and it has to do lots of swapping.

I missed that 1x4GB RAM. Add another identical stick and you should definitely see improvement as others have stated.
BTW, dual channel means leave an empty RAM slot between sticks when using only 2 on a 4 slot board. Slots are usually color coded.

8GB is the default standard for most now days and it will make a lot of difference for you. Reply back to the thread when it comes in just in case that it doesn't solve the problem or not as much that you expect.

BTW WD drives suck now days, slow and often pretty flaky.

Tom's just put up a I3-2120 review. A 2120 is slightly faster than a 2100 and a 560Ti is faster than a 560 but it should give you some idea of what to expect. An I5-2400 and a 560Ti were getting 49FPS in BF3 on Ultra. If you're getting 36FPS with your current setup you are probably at about the limit of your rig.
Get the RAM!

Let me tell you the i3-2100 IS THE PROBLEM. I have an EVGA GTX 670 which I have overclocked. i have upgraded all of my parts except the i3-2100 and it still performs really bad. I would consider going for an i7 (that's what i am doing) or upgrade motherboard and CPU to a new AMDFX core.
