I came across an old Thinkpad 760XD that I'd like to use for an in-vehicle
display. What I'd like to do is detach the whole lid/screen and mount it
to the back of one of the seats, with an extension cable of some kind that
runs down to the Thinkpad, which is mounted underneath the seat.
Is such a thing possible? Has anyone tried it before? I thought I'd ask
before I started disassembling this thing...
I've seen some instructions on how to remove the lcd panel from the lid,
but nothing on how to remove the whole lid from the rest of the Thinkpad.
And I haven't found any information on actually using the screen when it is
detached from the rest of the Thinkpad.
Thanks!

Why not put the whole laptop (opened flat) on the back of the seat? It'll
probably experience less vibration and heat that way too. The flat cables
that run between the LCD and the motherboard are pretty thin and delicate
looking.
You could put something over the keys if you want a nicer presentation, or
drop it into a sleeve hung over the seat back.
