Last week I built a machine with a 4870 and Win 7 x64, which I'm over 9000 (haha) percent satisfied with. Seriously, I'm so excited I could crush my scouter into millions of tiny pieces with my bare hand. Thanks again if you're one of those who helped me decide on the computer.
Okay, all jokes and nerdy references aside, I was wondering if there were any particular drivers that you guys would recommend for my setup. I just downloaded the latest Catalyst driver from ATI, and I wanted to know if there were any known issues with that driver or if I could gain a significant advantage over getting another version of the driver.
The games I'm currently playing are:
BioShock
Dragon Age
Oblivion (not so much)
The games I eventually want to play are:
Mass Effect (1 and 2)
BioShock 2
Diablo 3
Maybe Fallout 3?
Etc.
I know I'm being nitpicky, 'cause my games are running fine as is, but still!
I always use the newest drivers available for my 4870. I have Fallout3, Bioshock, Mass Effect 1, Dragon Age, and Oblivion installed. I have had no issues running any of these on the current drivers.
The only thing that I had problems with was the display driver stopping in the middle of a game and restarting. I was updating the drivers as soon as one would come out and it ended up hurting me. I rolled back to 9.8 and I have no issues.
So just watch out for any display driver issues and then try rolling back till you find a working one. Hope you don't have any issues.
God bless.
