New cpu, motherboard, old xp hd?

I got a new cpu, new motherboard conroe 1333, and i am using an old dell hard drive with xp, well it wont boot, how do i fix this? with keeping windows xp, If i cant keep xp I also have windows 7, but I am having trouble installing it with this configuration via usb.. please help. diablo 3 is approaching and I do not want to play it on my MBA!

Old drive IDE, MOBO expecting Sata ? - Look in bios to see how it is configured.

You can't transplant a hard drive into a new system and expect it to work. The operating system has the wrong drivers installed for the new hardware. You might be able to fix it with a repair install, but a clean install is highly recommended.
