Hey everyone, i currently have an xfx 9800 gtx+ in my system and im planing to sli... but i am unsure if my power supply is strong enough so can u guys help me in deciding whether or not i am eligible for sli.

currently i have a pc power and cooling 610w silencer PSU with max of 49Amps on a 12 volt rail. Ive read that to sli these card u should have atleast 750watt PSU! So do u believe i will be able to run both my cards? Also i will be using them for gaming so not just surfing the web. Can they run with a 610 PSU while on full load?

thxs

You should be ok if your PSU isn't very old (aging capacitors).

I've read reviews that say a system with two 9800GTXs in SLi draws up to 500watts...yours is a 9800GTX+, and should be slightly more power efficient. Just make sure you have 4xPCIe connectors to run the two cards.

Nvidia recommends a 750watt PSU but a minimum of 45amps on the 12v rail (which is far more important than the watts). You have a quality 610watt PSU with more than enough amps, which is better than most 750watt no-name brand PSUs out there.
