I'm getting ready to build a new gaming box with a single 295 GTX and an i7 920. Any favorite brands of power supplies for bullet proof construction and reliability?

Least to more expensive:

If you want modular:

PC Power & Cooling with similar specs would be good too. Newegg doesn't seem to have very many options atm but I don't know where you will be shopping.

This is a good start and if you pick any of these it will be plenty for your system...

I like OCZ's quality and reasonable prices.

It's hard to beat this deal

Very nice choice for going on the cheap.

If you aren't concerned to spend a few more bucks Corsair is my 1st choice along with PC Power & Cooling:

I do like aford10's find though... ;)

The OCZ fatal1ty that I linked is a strong PSU with 25amps on each 12v rail.

Its a good psu if you are staying with a single card, if you are considering a dual card setup then the Corsair 750 watter is nice for another 40 bucks and is 60 amp on the 12+volt rail. 5 year warranty to boot!

^ No SLI

There's $50 difference between the OCZ and the 750w Corsair.

Don't get me wrong, I think very highly of Corsair. They are top notch quality, and have reasonable prices. But OCZ has made a nice splash in the PSU business and has even better prices.

To answer the OPs question though....The top quality PSU manufacturer's are: PC power and cooling, Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and OCZ.

"Why" is everyone "so SeRiOuS"? I didn't even get a courteous laugh out of my recommended Coolmax PSU!

Lol...I was trying hard to think of what it would be good for. A paperweight? A door jam? Target practice?....hmmmm

I would say target practice would be the only good use for it. Cheap PSU's are built so light weight that they wouldn't even make a good paperweight. :) I wouldn't want to risk scratching the paint on my door by using one for a door stop either.

I like the skeet shooting event idea myself. It's better than letting that cheap psu take out everything else in your system when it blows.

I had m y 8 month old son in my lap at the time I replied, believe me you got a chuckle from me... ;)

Justifiably ( is that a word ? )
Fixed

I don't think it looks right like that either, but hell if the spellcheckers are good with it I'm game.

The two online spell checkers found no spelling errors if you change the y to an i, justifiably. I don't know that I have ever used it that way, usually is with an e instead of a y.

"Tia said something nasty about the CEO Bob, so Bob fired her justifiably."

If you can't spell it, you can't use it.
