iv heard that WD is dependable, but as of late... not so much

and i like the price of the samsung

The Samsung drive would be the obvious choice between those two. The Samsung drive uses a single 500GB platter which makes it considerably faster than the two 250GB platters used in the 500GB WD drive. The fact that it's $15 is just icing on the cake.

I would have to say that the samsung spinpoint f3 500gb is the best 500gb hdd right now price : performance.

Go for sammy f3 3x RAID-0; thats what i did :D

3x Raid-0, yikes! I think I'll just go with two, as single drives have satisfied me up to this point.
