I have an on board ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card on my mother board right now. I'm trying to run Modern Warfare 2 on it, but it is very jerky.
I put a ATI Radeon x1600 pro in my last system, and I was just wondering if I installed that on my new system, would it make the game run smoother?

any advise?

You didn't mention what screen resolution you're playing MW2 at - but the X1600 Pro is a better video card than the onboard HD 3200.
HD 3200 gets a Passmark video score of 114 and the X1600 Pro gets 288 on the Passmark video benchmark. Which is likely to get you a slight improvement. Sill very jerky.

Interested in getting a new card? What kind of budget will you have? And list the rest of your system, including the power supply details for us.

There will be a minor speed increase. Just try it you can. Although I'm not sure if MW2 will work on that older video card by generation, although by performance it's slightly faster than the HD3200.

Anyway, the GeForce 8500GT is faster than the Radeon 3200 IGP. Which means it's pretty slow.

I definitely am looking for a new card. I'm on a budget of around $100. I just posted another thread about that. My system includes:
ASUS M3A78-EM AM2+ motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core Processor 6000+
4 gigs of Ram
