I've never built a computer before
Is there any way to make sure the set-up would even work?

Antec 9 Hundred Mid-Tower Case
Kingwin Mach 1 1000w PSU
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
Plextor Super Multi Writer(SATA)
750GB WD [32mb cache]SATA Hard Drive
and some multi media reader
i want to run windows 7 home premium too.

will everything connect physically? i'm not completely sure how to pick a GPU or PSU. any recommendations or comments would be appreciated

PSU: get a higher quality, lower capacity PSU. For a single video card, a 550 watt Corsair would do nicely. I'd get a 650 watt Corsair or Antec. (I recommend what I use.) But I prefer to operate my PSU's at 50% - 60% of capacity.

 

HD: Get a WD 640 Black (two 320 GB platters) or a WD 1 TB Black (three 320 GB + platters) instead of a 750 GB drive (three 250 GB platters). Faster.

 

Case: You will need a case speaker. Antec 900's do not come with one.

^+1 Nicely stated...

As for the GPU, get the HD 5770 rather than the 5750. And +1 for Corsair 650TX if you want to crossfire 57xx.
