i7 920 or wait for the i7 980x

Should I do my new build with the i7 920 or wait for the i7 980x. I have already ordered an ASUS motherboard the is 980x-ready?
My apps are all high end digital audio workstation apps and are written to take full advantage of multi-core processors.

I7 980x is gulftown right? You can wait if you want to spend around $1000 for a processor.

If you have the money and you can make use of the cores then go 980x

We don't know when the 6 core gulftown will arrive, or the price.

I suggest you build with the 920 now and see how it goes. Most likely, you will be happy, particularly if you can give it a safe overclock to 3.2 or so.

If you think you need more cores then, replace it with the new cpu. You will not take much of a loss on the 920 reselling it at that time.
