i'm looking to build my 1st system and following the reviews I'm thinking of getting the HD4870 as the GPU. However, I'm a little reluctant due to the noise levels (I don't want to add liquid cooling). Can someone let me know how loud it really is and if it is a real issue.

Thanks

Take the fan off of auto mode, when its on it will get pretty loud. I have my fan a 40%, my card is oced, but cooling/noise is still good.

The Vapor-X series is also very quiet. When I first installed mine in my HTPC rig it was so quiet I thought the fan wasn't running!
