Is there reason to hope that the 500GB Hitachi DeskStar
7K500 will install in and be fully recognized by the DirecTV
DVR Samsung SIR-4080R using the Weaknees CD? How about a
320?

Which is the better plan, add the new drive as a second
drive or copy the old drive to the new drive and install it
as a single drive?

I remember reading that the architecture only allows two
space upgrades. Is this true? If this is so, it would
suggest that each upgrade be as large as possible. Can the
system handle 3 or 5 hundred GB of data, or more, or will it
slow down so much as to be impossible.?

Is there any way to obtain recorded programming from this
machine without going through one of the analog outputs
(S-video or composite)? It would seem that going from digial
to analog and back to digital again will cause unwanted
degradation, plus it will lose the indexing capability.

Thanks for any help.
