Hello,
>Crappy 5 year old laptop runs slow. Screen broken. All it's used for is watching videos on netflix, which it does crappily because it's so loaded down with junk I cant get rid of.

-Reinstalled XP home OS on ancient dell vostro.
-fast again, nice
-Attempt to enter key from bottom of laptop. XP says invalid. Will turn into a brick in 30 days.
-Saved the drivers folder out of it before installing.
-Copy/paste into sys 32 drivers folder.
-Doesn't do anything
-Hook up to monitor after installing video and audio drivers online.
-Plug in VGA cord, "not supported" flashes around the monitor.
-Monitor works in linux live distro, but can't use netflix on linux.

-Reinstalled XP home OS on ancient dell vostro. How old is that CD & what SP is on it ? You would be better off to slipstream SP3 into the CD & burn a new Windows Install CD.
-fast again, niceI would get back to this point. Then D/L keyfinder, Magical Jelly Bean - Will show Product and Key which you just installed.
