CPU AM3 550 or Athlon II 620? Which one

Out of the AM3 550 or Athlon II 620 what would be the smarter choice for gaming?Does the lack of L3 really affect gaming? Reviews and benchmarks for games only show a very few drops in FPS compared to an X3.

I could be wrong.

Athlon II x4 620. Overclock it to at least 3 GHz and you are all set. Games are moving towards supporting performance improvements with more than 2 cores. 3 cores is already shown to improve over 2 cores.

However, I do ask you, what are the components in the rest of your system?

Either is a good choice. The x4 doesn't do as well with min frame rates, but if you do OC, that will bring those numbers up.
